DCP Midstream retained the Firm to serve as lead counsel in its ongoing lawsuit against Anadarko Petroleum and two of its subsidiaries. The Firm represented DCP Midstream along with partners from the Denver office of Perkins Coie. DCP, a midstream company that gathers and processes gas, filed the lawsuit in 2011, claiming that Defendant Anadarko and its subsidiaries were violating the terms of more than 40 different gas purchase, gathering and processing contracts (which, collectively, govern the dedication of gas production from more than 6000 wells drilled by Anadarko or its predecessors in the Wattenberg Field near Denver, Colorado). DCP Midstream sought to recover more than $1 billion in damages for past breaches of the contract and specific performance of the contracts prospectively. After the Firm had taken only two depositions, and prevailed on a series of pretrial motions, the case settled under confidential terms in January 2016.
