Represented BHP Billiton in a lawsuit brought by an individual claiming to own an interest in leases covering BHP Billiton’s property.  The case involved interpretation of complex wills and estate documents, and the chain of title for the subject leases. Reynolds Frizzell defeated the majority of claims on a motion for summary judgment in which the court ruled that the Plaintiff did not have valid mineral leases or any other right, title, or interest in the property at issue.  Following this ruling, the parties reached a settlement.
